Newsletter Nov-Dec 2024

18.12. 2024

Dear community,

The situation in Gaza continues to worsen, with severe shortages of basic supplies. Families are struggling to survive the cold weather without adequate shelter or proper clothing, amid ongoing violence and destruction. The harsh conditions are further compounded by sewage flooding, as the existing infrastructure struggles to cope.

Since November, here’s how we’ve been supporting displaced families:

Shelter Upgrades: Installed 1,300 plastic covers in Al-Mawasi to protect tents from rain and cold winds, significantly improving living conditions.

School Renovation: Carried out three days of work to partially repair a damaged school, allowing students to return to learning in a warmer and safer environment after a year without access to education.

Sewage Project: Our team responded to sewage flooding in the IDP camps Zomi and Mesk&Layan by carrying out essential repairs. We are also looking into ways to improve the sewage system in Al-Mawasi to prevent future flooding.

Hygiene Kits: Distributed essential sanitation supplies to 2,300 families. We are currently awaiting the next batch to cross the border.

Water Project Update: With less demand for water during the winter, we are now providing water only in urgent situations, prioritizing individuals with health problems.

Winter Campaign Updates:
Thanks to your generosity, we successfully fundraised and purchased warm blankets and winter jackets for children. These supplies are awaiting clearance to enter Gaza and will be distributed to displaced families as soon as they arrive at our warehouse.

Meet our team:

A huge shout-out to Ahmed Sharif, our incredible on-ground civil engineer and team leader. His problem-solving skills, positive energy, and dedication have been instrumental in finding practical solutions for the challenges we face.
