Frequently Asked Questions
How to donate?
Thank you for your support! Please see this link for the various ways and currencies in which you can support our work: https://www.cleanshelter.org/donation
How do you transfer the money?
Clean Shelter has a business account at GLS Bank. Since money transfers to Gaza are not possible from Germany, we have a fiscal partner in the UK, where such transfers are possible.
Who receives the money locally and pays for materials and construction work?
Our team manager and the vendors we work with in Gaza.
How do I know my donation is used for the right purpose?
We are in direct contact with our team on the ground, who update us on their progress and send us photos and videos, and with community representatives from the communities we’ve been working with. We also keep a meticulous log that records all donations and transfers to Gaza (accessible to donors), file all receipts for expenses in Gaza, and report to the German tax authorities.
Who supervises the construction work on site?
We have a team of volunteers on the ground, managed by Ahmed Sherif. When the work is carried out by a vendor, they are responsible for supervision, but our team manager makes the final approval. Additionally, we have established partnership with local independent organizations to take part in supervision along with our team.
Are you a political organization?
Clean Shelter is a registered charitable organization in Germany. We believe in every person’s right to live in dignity and in peace, and to have their basic needs met - food, water, hygiene, education, respect, security, and safety. We focus on humanitarian aid and rapid response in times of crisis worldwide, and specifically on sanitation, shelter and water.
